METALLICA's ULRICH Says He Is Pleased By SANITARIUM Attendance Figures

Despite what is widely considered to be a weak concert season, METALLICA's Summer Sanitarium Tour with LINKIN PARK, LIMP BIZKIT, DEFTONES, and MUDVAYNE is at Number 12 on the concert trade publication Pollstar's "power concert index" and is said to be one of the stronger "package" tours currently making the rounds.

Even though the tour hasn't been selling out venues, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich believes that trek is doing well.

"Between the economy, between all the other bands being out there, between it just being summer in itself, between wars, between us not having done anything for three years," he said. "I mean we played to 51,000 people at Giants stadium. We played to, what was it, 43/44 [thousand] people up in Boston. That's a fuck of a lot of people!

"It's not even so much about if that's more than the other tour. You have to look at it as if, 'That's a lot of people to have in one place in the summer of 2003.'"

METALLICA's Summer Sanitarium Tour will resume on Friday, July 25 in St. Louis, Missouri, and will end in the group's hometown of San Francisco, California on August 10.
